Another Day Of Tackmaking

Today I sat down at my crafting desk at 12:00 and didn't come back down until 3:00. In 3 hours I managed to make a pink halter, a lead rope, and one horse boot. The halter was fairly easy, because I have made multiple before. Except this time I had halter rings! Just recently I bought a ton of stuff off of Rio Rondo, and this time I got some halter rings. I also got 2 sheets of leather, 4 stirrups, multiple buckles and some more.

All of the stuff that I got on Rio Rondo.

This is the pink halter that I made.

These clips really come in handy when you need something to hold your pieces together while they are drying!

The horse boot on the other hand... didn't turn out so well. It looked pretty good when I was making it, but the straps turned out to be too short. Well maybe I can fit it on one of my ponies!

I added padding on the inside using felt.

I took my a long time to poke holes in the back, and through the leather!

Rider Hair Spa

Today I decided to take my rider to the hair spa! Her hair was all frizzy and bent, so I decided to fix that.

First I filled a small bowl with hot water (I used a soy sauce bowl!)

Next I dipped her hair into the hot water for about ten seconds.

Then I brushed it out until it was straight.

Making a Riding Jacket Part 2

I'm almost done making my riding jacket. all that I have to do now is add the sleeves. It was fairly easy, although it took me about 4 hours just to get this far.... Well I'm satisfied with it so far!

The front took me the most time. I probably had to re cut the pieces like five times. But I think that is turned out well.

The back it made up of three pieces.

The outside may look good, but the inside is a jumble of strings and seams!

Making a Riding Jacket part 1

Today I started to make a riding jacket for my Breyer rider.
I decided to make it out of navy blue canvas to give it that realistic look.

First I took the previous jacket and took all of the stitches out. that way I could easily trace them and make a pattern. I was a bit hesitant at first but I decided to try.( Sorry Jacket)

After I made a pattern, I started to cut out the pieces. I had to do multiple try's to get the perfect piece.
Then I sewed them together while looking at a reference photo.

This is what I have so far.

I will hopefully finish the jacket tomorrow.

First Day!

Hi! My name is Jamie and I am 12 years old. This is the first day of my new blog. In this blog I will try to post every day with a new thing about Breyer horses. I love Breyers and I collect them. I enjoy making miniature tack and I dream of going to Breyerfest someday.

This is the new saddle that I made recently. Now i'm just waiting for the leather lace that I ordered so that I can make a girth and stirrup straps.
